B. EMPLOYMENT ( continued )
3. Disciplinary Actions
To ensure that Erwine Home Health and Hospice business is conducted properly and efficiently, employees must conform to certain standards of attendance, conduct, work performance and other rules and regulations. When a problem in these areas does arise, the employee’s direct report will coach and counsel him or her in mutually developing an effective solution. If, however, an employee fails to respond to coaching or counseling, or an incident occurs requiring formal discipline, the following procedures occur:
Step One: Oral Reminder
The departmental manager will meet with the employee to discuss the problem or violation, making sure that he or she understands the nature of the problem or violation and the expected remedy. The purpose of this conversation is to remind employees of exactly what the rule or performance expectation is and also to remind them that it is their responsibility to meet Erwine Home Health and Hospice expectations.
An employee will be informed that the Oral Reminder is the first step of the discipline procedure. The manager will fully document the Oral Reminder, which will remain in effect for twelve (12) months. Documentation of the incident will be forwarded to the Human Resources department and placed in the personnel record.
