F. ON THE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
10. Drug and Alcohol Abuse
Erwine Home Health and Hospice Inc. wishes to provide a drug and alcohol free work place. To promote this goal, employees are required to report to work in an appropriate mental and physical condition to perform their jobs in a satisfactory manner. No employee may use, possess, distribute, manufacture, sell or be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while on duty. The legal use of prescribed drugs is permitted only if it does not impair an employee’s ability to perform the essential functions of his or her position in a safe manner that does not endanger the employee or other individuals. All employees will be subject to drug, alcohol and other testing upon reasonable suspicion or any behavior which the management of Erwine’s believes is unusual or possibly resulting from the influence of any drug or alcohol. Mandatory drug and alcohol testing will be required following any on the job injury or accident causing any damage to personal property or personal injury to anyone. The refusal to submit to mandatory testing or to cooperate with the testing facility will result in immediate termination of employment. If the test results are positive, the employee may be disciplined, up to and including termination.
Any employee who is using prescription or over-the-counter drugs that may impair the employee’s ability to safely perform the job, or affect the safety or well-being of others, must notify their supervisor of such use immediately before starting or resuming work.
Erwine Home Health and Hospice will provide reasonable accommodation to employees with alcohol or drug dependencies who voluntarily seek treatment and/or rehabilitation.
