D. TIME OFF

6. Jury Duty and Witness Leave

Erwine Home Health and Hospice encourages employees to serve on jury duty when called. Refer to Attachment A for an explanation of time available under this policy. Employees should notify their supervisor of the need for time off for jury duty as soon as a notice or summons from the court is received. A written verification from the court clerk of performance of jury service may be requested. If work time remains after any day of jury selection or jury duty, all employees are expected to return to work for the remainder of the work schedule. Employees may retain any mileage allowance or other fees paid by the court for jury services.

7. Military Leave

An employee who is a member of the United States Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves or Public Health Service will be granted unpaid leave of absence for military training/service or related obligations in accordance with applicable law. An employee is entitled to reinstatement upon completion of military service, provided he or she returns or applies for reinstatement within the time allowed by law.
